ABOUT AWD

Hi - I’m Alan Denyer, the owner of AWD Restorations.

We’re a small business based in Earlsdon, Coventry - taking on restoration projects in the local area, up to a hours drive away - so that also includes Leamington, Warwick, Stratford, Nuneaton, Leicester, Solihull, Knowles, Redditch, Birmingham, Dudley, Worcester (tho please ask if you’re further away as I occasionally take on larger jobs).

AWD specialises in replacing windows - either worn-out originals, or unsympathetic additions - with Edwardian / Victorian replicas in (timber lookalike) woodgrained pvc.

I describe our approach as a restoration though, rather than simple installation of windows- as we do things a bit differently.

Typically this means you’ll get to keep (or have us re-instate) the original cills, sash box reveals (exterior detail around the outside of windows), patterned architraves (on the inside) - plus (where practicable) we’ll paint any surrounding timber / stone so as to blend in the old & the new.

There’s no extra charge for any of this - we just like to finish a job properly so you don’t need to get any other tradespeople in.

Ps. Pvc technology has come on enormously in the last few years - it’s now possible to get really authentic detailing not just with windows but also specialist pvc trims and architraves sourced by us to complement the look.

So - unless you live in a listed building (where only timber replacements are permitted) - imo pvc is the way to go. It’ll last forever, and (when spec’d sympathetically, as part of a restoration-oriented install) blends in beautifully.

Additionally, as a long-time Coventry citizen I also try and make time for mostly pro-bono work in support of local grassroots culture initiatives - with the aim of making spaces to be available for creative community use.
